Brioche Pie Crust And A PB&J Sandwich Pie

I’ve just solved all your pie crust problems.

Gone are the days of crumbly crust nightmares, falling apart before you can get them in the pan. This pie crust has two ingredients and takes 20 minutes including baking.

Seriously.

The Crumble Pie (aka Two For One Pie!)

I’m one of those weird people that actually likes the pie crust more than the filling.  Especially when it’s this all-butter version.  When I’m eating a slice, I usually get rid of that annoying fruit first and then enjoy my crust and ice cream.

Most people don’t share my crust love, but they love crumble.  Enter the crumble pie.  Part pie, part fruit crumble, it’s the best of both worlds.  Another bonus: you get two pies out of one crust recipe because you don’t have to worry about top crusts!

Strawberry Rhubarb Cream Pie (With Candied Pistachios)

We were getting strawberries and rhubarb in our veggie bag again this week.  Last time I had made a strawberry rhubarb crumble pie for our camping trip.  Everyone loved it!  I was going to make another one of the same, but if you’ve learned anything through this blog, I don’t usually like doing that.  And then Alex found this blog post from Bellwoods brewery.  They had a new dessert on their menu to pair with their Omerta beer: a strawberry rhubarb shortcake with cardamom-scented pastry cream and candied pistachios.

That sounded so so good.

Lemon Cream Pie Sundae

A couple of weeks ago I posted this cold berry pie and the perfect pie crust recipe.  You may have noticed that the pie crust recipe makes two crusts, but the pie only requires one. What do you do with the extra crust?

The Perfect Pie Crust And A Cold Berry Pie

I came home early on a Friday.  It had been a tough week with lots of setbacks, but with the prospect of a relaxing weekend ahead, I tried to put all other thoughts out of my mind. As I wandered through our little grocery store, a plan starting forming in my head for a nice Friday night dinner.

The Great Pumpkin Challenge

So it's fall apparently... how did that happen??  It seems like just the other day we were still sweltering.  Oh well, another summer gone and there's no looking back!

And what says fall better than pumpkin!?  Today I had this crazy idea that everything I made would have pumpkin in it.  So I bought a great big can of pumpkin puree and went nuts.  Pecans actually... haha.  I hope you guys will all forgive me for posting about a savoury food, but it goes with the story!
