Snack Attack: Citrus (Not Crème) Brûlée

I was considering calling this healthy crème brûlée, but I figured the sugar in the recipe and the lack of cream prevented that.  Despite that, this is good.

Seriously, this was so good, it surprised me.  Who would have though throwing some oranges in the oven would make them so much better?

Plus, anytime I get to put a flame to something is fine by me.

Snack Attack posts are simple recipes, sometimes hardly even recipes, for quick snack/meal/dessert ideas.

Citrus (Not Crème) Brûlée

Citrus of your choice (tangerine, mandarins, oranges, blood oranges)
Sugar

Heat oven to 350F.  Cut citrus in half and arrange on a parchment lined baking sheet. Roast for 15-20 minutes (this will depend on the size of the citrus).  Once warm through, remove from oven.  Working quickly, because the sugar will melt on the hot citrus, cover the citrus half in a layer of sugar and torch it until caramelized.  Don’t worry if the citrus peel or pith starts to burn a little, you won’t even notice this later.  Wait until the caramelized sugar cools and hardens (a few minutes).  Eat.
