Summer is starting slowly in Toronto this year. We constantly seem to be at that awkward stage where it looks like it should be warm, but as soon as the sun slips behind a cloud and the cool wind starts blowing, you regret your decision to leave your sweater at home. Still, we pretend, hoping that by wearing a dress and putting on some sunglasses we will coax summer out.

I’ve been doing some mathematical modeling at work over the past couple of months. Sometimes math is a nice break from wet lab work. The logic is relaxing. Things are predictable. At the same time, I’ve had to remember things that I learned in calculus in undergrad. Partial differential equations, asymptotic analysis, limits. I made my brain reach.

Balcony Garden: Day 0
Way back in January, when I wrote about the things I would like to focus on this year, I mentioned starting a balcony garden. Although Canada has been less than cooperative with the weather this year, it is finally warm enough to plant some things outside!
